Web scraping (sometimes called harvesting) is a technique of extracting the content of websites, via a script or a program, with the aim of transforming it to allow its use in another context (i.e - referencing).
In a corporate environment which owns its data, this technology significantly reduces the time and cost of enterprise application integration. Although this type of integration has been criticized for its lack of reliability and performance in the past, there are now professional tools on the market that allow these integrations in compliance with the security and governance constraints imposed by organizations.
