Savannah Traffic Club
The Savannah Traffic Club, Inc. (STC) was formed in March 1995 as the result of the merger of the Savannah Womens Transportation Association and the Transportation Club of Savannah. These clubs roots went back over 20 and 50 years respectively. The Savannah Traffic Club is a non-profit organization open to persons in the transportation and logistics industries and related fields. Currently, over 50 companies in manufacturing, shipping and allied industries and Georgia Southern University are represented by the membership in the club. STC promotes education in the field of transportation and logistics in partnership with GSU by awarding scholarships to deserving college students seeking a degree in transportation and logistics. A golf tournament is held yearly to fund this worthy cause. This year, STC awarded five scholarships to junior and senior students at GSU seeking a Business Logistics and Intermodal Transportation Degree totaling $10,000. STC also provides financial assistance in the area of continuing education in the field of transportation and logistics to its members. The Club invites speakers to present topics of interest of the community to the membership. In addition to the educational assistance, STC holds various social functions to generate fellowship among its members. Part of the profit from these functions is given to charitable organizations, such as: The American Cancer Society, Second Harvest Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, The Patricia S. Reese Scholarship at AASU and others. The Club is a member of Logistics and Transportation Association of North America (LTNA), formerly Transportation Clubs International (TCI), which is a non profit educational association throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. LTNA is committed to promoting education in transportation logistics domains within the supply chain management concept. LTNA awards eight different scholarships throughout North America yearly.
